Though even long before the church scandals (both national and international) broke out, I was not so ardent (if at all) in the catholic belief that I was brought up in. However I feel that, though actual veneration of saints and idols is a bridge too far, certain
icons and legends and myths may by the choises they made and their exemplary path of life have yet a lesson in store for us.
And humility and kindness to animals are not the least of them. I know I have yet a great many lessons to learn in those departments.
