Finally another blogpost that I haven't stolen. Though I fear it will not be of interest to my younger and/ or male readers.
Babysitting. As a teenager this mainly meant getting paid to stay up late to sit on my aunt's couch, reading her weekly magazines and send my younger cousins to bed around 10pm. Money that, though I may have had the cheapest hobby of all my classmates, I badly needed to build my own library.
Ten years later, also known as the present. Babysitting is still very much a case of couchlounging, drinking, eating and watching television. The akward part for me is when people still want to pay me for my troubles.

Quote #43
"You have to write the book that wants to be written. And if the book will be too difficult for grown-ups, then you write it for children."

Children in time
I have no doubt that one day I must have kids, that no matter how much the minusses may outnumber the plusses; I'll regret not having them when I 'm past the procreative age. And yet, not 24 hours sharing a limited space with the type of humans that I would hypothetically spend twenty years of my life breeding, feeding, educating, caring, washing and clothing, I have concluded that I may not be the stuff mothers are made off.
Also I'm emotional anyday, around pre-school kids I am devoid of a reason. And I work hard enough too keep these two in balance, I must not strive to extremities, this will not improve the quality of my life.
Dear reader, I am aware that this is more a public letter to myself then a true blogpost, but it is merely public so that you may remind me of my own words. It shall be necessary soon enough.

A Child
Of all things I want, I want one thing most. And all my dear friends, even my not so dear friends and family are aware of it, or should be.
Thus it should be a shock for none of my readers to learn I want a child. Most of my readers have in fact alreadt pledged me their full support. And yet...
Is this everything I want in life? I do think so. Wouldn't it be better to want more things but not so intesively, so as to increase my chances of success? I doubt it. I never want anything only a little bit, when I long for something/someone it is always with all of my heart.
There. There is nothing more, not to say, not to be said.

Kvraagetaan
There is a man who I hold in high regard (though not the highest for the mud pool of my affection has a strict, very strict hierarchy) who has today by the mere act of blogging caused me to carry to the grave my lifelong antipathy for bands singing in a dialect from the wrong side of Ghent.
And because I must have an opinion: it is mostly about one song. The title would be 'kvraagetaan'. And I have no means whatsoever to translate or even try to explain what this means. Basically it means asking someone you like to start of a relationship. I have little inside info to give on the subject as my only involvement ever consists of saying 'no' twice after which time nobody bothered asking. Back to the song concerned: Melancholy and more melancholy, a sequence of memories (some barely ten years old) and the lament of going back to the time where everything was as simple as ' kvraagetaan'. Any deeper meaning and nuance is lost on me quite possibly because the language sung is not my native tongue.
