Looking forward to monday ???

Don't tell me why you don't like mondays. In general I think I share your views on this one, but next monday is one I'm having mixed feeling about. It is after all the 20th of april: a day of sad memories.*
And this year a day on which I don't have to go to work and might be seeing the one I secretly (and not so secretly) long for again.

First Impressions

It's nothing serious, rest assured that my heart is in no danger of any hurt you might imagine befalling one in love. I'm not in love. But it isn't so very often a guy makes an impression this lasting in just a few hours.

Crush- part 7 billion

It seems to me a truth, universally acknowledged that all handsome men most be gay or long-term commited and very often both. Still can't help liking this guy though.

The Postman Always Rings Twice

You may think, dear reader that I am referring to a movie classic.

But in fact I am going to tell you about whom I like to think of as 'my mailman'. He's forty-fifty something. His greying hair is short, his dress style never changes, he greets me nearly daily in the same peppy slightly smokey voice and every time he leaves with a wink. He's not ultimately lovable but I've grown strangely fond of him. In much the same way one grows fond of goldfish or kitchenmold (doesn't this sound harsh), but he's one part of my life as a working girl I would not like to trade.

I know he's not MY mailman, seeing that I have to share him with at least every other secretary in the building-whom I will scorching with flaming rays from my eyes and crush into despair with my sheer unreachable superiority, should they wish to claim the uniformed messenger themselves- still I hope to find out in time when is 'postman-day' so that I may surprise him with a(n) (origami) flower.

Crush

As my loyal followers are aware and my recent admirers may suspect, I fall in love easily and out of love only with the utmost effort and pain. Since I have decided a while back that I do not s-wish to be miserable the entirety of my live, I have come to the conclusion that it might be better should I never fall in love again.

Ponder and wonder, it is a strange decision to make, for as long as the future I paint for myself is brighter without a man to break my heart however, I will stick to it. Call me crazy or narrowminded or wont to overly complicate my life, I don't care. I'm happier this way and I'd dare say so are the guys I meet. Instead of being treated as the root of all evil, they are now met with conversation and smiles. At rare occasions even cuddles.

Tell me this is not a good thing. I will nevermore befriend a man and forever fall in love.

Sometimes what you want is exactly what you need.

The advice of one of my dearest friends was to concentrate on what I wanted most and then it would be bound to happen. Therefor I have made a list of things I look for in a partner.

Willing to share the responsability for my (adopted) children, or to be extremely willing to procreate.

Be kind.

Make me look up when I feel down and put my feet back on the ground when I'm dreaming.

Love to hold me in their arms.

And above all, I need/want a redhaired life companion, because as I have recently discovered, they are direct descendants from neanderthal (wo)men. This may or may not be a reason to you, since I know this, how could I ever be satisfied with a mere homo sapiens sapiens by my side.

Note: It has recently come to my attention that I have some new followers and for those very few I would like to add this note. Previously you may have read an edited post with a remark about being too personal on-line. The fact that I have not felt the urge to censure this post follows from the fact that is is not meant to be taken all too seriously. Unless you have red hair and might like me ;-).

A Poem #1

Tell me, if I caught you one day
and kissed the sole of your foot,
wouldn't you limp a little then,
afraid to crush my kiss?...

Too beautiful not too post. Stumbled upon it around here.

The Sweater: How it began

Many questions have been asked and -I fear- will be asked. So I will here relate the story in full (or as full as I want it generally known).

Sometime during october last, the most recent addition to our bunch of house occupiers welcomed in one of his (many) brothers at climbing ropes. A very love-to-cuddle looking member of the male species too. I did not see this person again untill late february-march, considering aforementioned house mate's absence for nearly four months, this is not so very surprising. Come march however this fine young man was invited for dinner, seemed to like it and was invited again and again. Some weeks back I suggested, he cook for me sometime. About two weeks ago as I was seeking shelter from rain in the library, this person hit me on the head with a book. Naturally I was not so amused- or so I would like you to believe, actually I quite like being hit on the head by handsome men. He whom we speak of however was still aware of the dinner invitation he owed me which works greatly in his favour. He spoke of arranging a date in the summer months, but lo! a mere two days later came an invitation for a bbq the following week, that being wednesday last. We chatted, we laughed, we ate, we played risk and when we took leave (i.e. were kicked out because the host wanted sleepy time) I was offered a sweater so I would not be cold on the way home.

And that's the story in it's entirety, no more question please.

Bliss from Books

I have been known to shift moods in milliseconds. Many if not all of my readers have seen my mood darken in a heartbeat for no other reason than brightly shining sun. It will not surprise you that yesterday; I have been tired and frustrated, beat down by the weather, disappointed by a lack of bare massageable shoulders, intimidated by the angry looks a fellow librarylocated studiant shoots me and a wee tad blissful. Yes; blissful. Even I sometimes alter my mood for the better, though I doubt few of you may have seen this altered mood coming from being hit on the head with a book.

I spent most of yesterday wondering whether it was really so hard to see that sometimes all one needs is a hug. In view of that here's a list of what I want come september 18.

  • pair of kisses
  • 1 cuddly hug
  • 1 marriage proposal
  • throwing axe
  • 10-week course in throwing axes
  • 2 bottles of medicin against heartache
  • some courage to confide a secret

Reflections on Sideburns

Sideburns are cool.

As easily as one reckonises the villain of any story by his goatee, one may notice a hero from his sideburns.

Colin Firth WITH sideburns is the next best thing to Alan Rickman. Alan Rickman with sideburns is God.

The male housemate with sideburns is a lot more handsome than the housemate giving unrealistic and utterly unbelievable compliments.

Sideburns are/ might be the only reason any woman considering a sex change.

Nothing rules more than sideburns. Except for Maori's, penguins, double-edged blades and chocolate mascarpone cake.

Nearly

I nearly cycled into a fellow bipedalist this evening. I also nearly bumped into a car. I nearly got in at the annual FK Samba de Janeiro Party. And I nearly threw myself at the feet of a man very likely twice my age. But what a handsome charismatic man. Had I been ten years older I would have thrown myself at his feet naked.

Proppian

Stumbling one day, I came across a fairy tale generator. How could I not share this joy with you?

A child playing in the dirt asked me, "Where did you get your shoes?"

"Sugar and spice," the old woman beckoned as she held out palms filled with cinnamon falling between her fingers like sand. As she sprinkled it across the floor my head swum up in a dizzy spell of hunger. I could no longer control my feet moving towards the cheap gimmicks of an old woman.

"What weighs you down will make you drown," he said with a loud crescent shaped grin. I believed him. I may have been a fool but with my head thrown asunder by the crashing tides of water I took off my shoes and bag and threw them across the stream on the other bank.

The girl knelt down at my feet, pressing her furry costume against my skin. "Please help me," she said, and kissed one foot. She kissed the other. And when I looked down I found both the leather-bottomed shoes gone and bare toes remaining. They froze in the mountain wind. At my feet a white wolf with childlike eyes stared up at me, grinned, and ran off with two shoes in her jaws.

I never strayed too far from home because the thought of father returning home always came back to me. But when air blew away the last remnant of his scent I knew he would not return. So I set out, again, watching my mother's stomach sink into the floor. I did not turn my head as I heard the people pull her into the ground.

A woman from the mountain dressed in dragon scales walked down towards me. Her feet were as bare as mine but that did not seem to matter, because wherever she stepped her feet did not make a sound. "I hear of a man who can perform miracles. He walks across the soil without danger and carries with him his father's ring. Are you this man?"

I pulled the needle out of where it would cause harm, and happy that I did so.

The fairy placed a single seed in my palm which I immediately planted and tended to for months. For days, I watered the seed, showered it with words of encouragement as it grew into a young sprout, and gave it proper space and care as it blossomed fully into a magnificent red rose that granted any wish that I whispered lovingly into its soft petals.

As I fought blindly as callow youths do, a white bird flew by my side and attached a feather to my bleeding wounds. They began to heal instantaneously.

Through the blind frenzy of earth and shadows I plunged my dagger into the creature's heart and watched as it melted into rain.

Waves of comfort and relief washed over my tired limbs as my father and mother embraced and kissed me. The familiar sights of my home and scents of my family soothed me so much that I nearly forgot the heavy pack I had carried for hours on my back, a sack filled with treasures I had collected throughout my journey to bring back to my family.

As the soil on me continued to turn into gold, the ground of our garden sprouted trees, fruits, and vegetables. My family and I stared in a daze as we watched our land grow rich and the people of the soil draw away.
